The rumor mills have recently been busy trying to guess when the like of Samsung and HTC will launch their flagship devices. Huawei, on the other hand, went ahead and confirmed that it will be launching its flagship Ascend P8 at an event in London on April 15, Pocket-Lint reports.
The publication quotes Jerry Huang, Huawei’s director of marketing communications, who reveals the date of the launch. Not a lot is known about the device, but recent leaks claim it will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p display, 16nm FinFET Huawei Kirin 930 SoC manufactured by TSMC, and possibly a fingerprint saner as well.
The Ascend P8 will no doubt be better than its predecessor the Ascend P7. It was recently launched in India, priced at Rs 24,799. The smartphone flaunts a 5-inch full HD 1080p display, and is powered by a 1.8GHz HiSilicon Krin 910T quad-core Cortex-A9 processor paired with Mali 450 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Also included is 16GB internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card.

The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, 2,500mAh battery, and connectivity options like LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat wrapped under the company s latest version of the Emotion 2.3 user interface.
While Huawei was earlier believed to have been launching the Ascend P8 at CES earlier this month, it clearly missed the date. It is also skipping MWC, where it will instead unveil an Android Wear smartwatch, as well as tablets.
